Not Aion 4.8 Patch Notes

The Open World consists of Enshar and Cygnea, home to the Asmodians and Elyos, respectively. Each map functions as the home map of the race which plays a significant role in how the Open World PvP of 4.8 will play out on Not Aion. The maps have a home base which is completely safe and away from World PvP with the usual assortment of NPC's that you know, but there is also a secondary base located on the periphery of the World PvP area which is reachable through Flight Teleporter. Be aware that the secondary base is not guaranteed to be safe and can be invaded by enemy players - they will have to plow through a heavy line of guards, however.

The only way to travel between the two maps is through Dimensional Rifts randomly appearing throughout the maps. Every 26 minutes, a new set of 3 Rifts will appear and each will have 15 entries to the map of the enemy race. You can see the location of these Rifts by opening your map, but you will only see them (and be able to use them) on your home map. While in the enemy map, you are an invader and the only way to get back home is by using Return, Escape or the command .suicide. Slaying monsters in the enemy map grants double the Might reward as normal so it can be quite profitable to take a risk and venture into unknown territory!

You will also find a Rift in the secondary bases of each race which allows a different entry point into the Open World area than the home base and the secondary base. This Rift will not take you to the enemy territory, however. The only way to get there is through the randomly appearing Dimensional Rifts.

A new feature of 4.8 is Gate Sieges. Every day at 12:00 and 18:00 server time and tuesday, thursday and saturday at 22:00, a Deity will appear on each Open World map and the location will be visible by opening your map. An Elyos Deity will appear on the Elyos home map and vice versa for the Asmodian home map which means that to take on this siege, you must invade the enemy map and slay their Deity. You can also choose to defend the Deity on your home map, granting a bonus +100% Might when scoring kills within the relatively small area of the gate. The Deities will disappear after 30 minutes if they have not been slain and until they have been slain on a map, all anti-zerg mechanisms are fully disabled on that map.

The "classic" siege of Kaldor fortress still exists in 4.8 and is accessible through a rift in your home base with the tag [Kaldor Siege]. This siege is unchanged and will as always show the current owning Legion with crowns around the names of the members visible to all allied players. The siege schedule will also be unchanged from before, alternating between 16:00, 20:00 and 0:00 throughout the week and at 14:00 and 20:00 on weekends.

Image

Image

Invasions still appear regularly in random locations that are visible on your map. Invasions consist of 3 waves with strong mobs and a boss in each. Killing the boss in the first 2 waves will trigger the spawning of the next one, while killing the last boss triggers the reward of Tempering Solutions randomly awarded among participants. Invasions cannot last for more than 15 minutes after which they will disappear and be considered failed.

Image

Throughout the Open World maps, Vocoliths appear in certain out-of-the-way locations. These are statues that can be triggered to cause a random mini-boss to spawn. Slaying this boss gives a Might reward along with Tempering Solutions to the player who did the most damage to it. The Vocoliths appear in fixed locations but have very long respawn timers.

A new essential feature of 4.8 is the Conqueror/Protector system. When you slay enemies on the enemy map (invading), you start gaining Conqueror levels. This will display a purple tag above your name and give you more Might whenever you kill another enemy. There are 3 levels and for each level you will earn an additional 20 % Might from kills. If you die, you will go down 1 level.

Image

Protector status can be acquired by slaying enemies on your home map (defending). Instead of a purple tag, the Protector tag is green and will give you an additional 10 % Might from kills per level. There are also 3 levels and you will lose 1 level by dying. Another feature of being Protector is that you can activate a Radar scan for enemies every 3 minutes. Activating this scan will make any Conquerors within 500m appear - however, if you are just Protector level 1, you can only see level 3 Conquerors. At level 2 Protector you can see both level 2 and 3 Conquerors and at level 3 Protector you will be able to detect all Conquerors (but not players who don't have any Conqueror level).

The new Open World maps also feature 3 Legion Villages each which can be obtained by Legions on weekly auction. To enter the auction, the Brigade General of the Legion must enter a starting pledge of 50 Might, and this will allow anyone in the Legion to pledge Might, raising the stakes. By the end of the auction, the 3 Legions of each race with the highest total Might pledged will be awarded a Legion Village.

The Legion Villages come with exclusive features which includes the ability to go to the Village from anywhere by using the command .village, a teleport NPC which has a few select locations in Open World that you can go to directly, and the following:

Image

The ability to initiate a Recharger queue for all (not just the same race as the Legion) 3 times per week (that means 18 Recharger queues per week that can be started by the players). Players will be able to sign up with the .recharger command.

Image

This retail-like boss encounter features superb rewards that heavily scale with the grade of completion. The challenge can be entered with an Alliance of maximum 12 members and will be possible to enter 3 times per week. When the Legion Village is awarded to the Legion, the Brigade General receives 3 wrapped (tradeable) Anoha Sealing Stones which are used to summon Anoha inside of the challenge. The Sealing Stones can be transferred to anyone in the Legion (or outside) if so desired.

Image

Anoha must be summoned through a ceremony where a player places a Sealing Stone in the sword anchored in the volcanic ground. Once summoned, the contendors have 20 minutes to defeat the behemoth. The faster Anoha is slain, the better the grade of completion - but beware, Anoha is powerful and the unprepared will truly feel his wrath!

I'm unsure to understand... Each faction has its own map, will there be some sort of rotation between the two like it has been the case on OS server?

Since each map is at one race, where will the fight stand? Is there a region between the two maps that is under another name, and limited by those so called Safe Points you mentioned?

it is known that old stigmas will "break" and not work anymore u can acquire 2 types of stigmas, 1) buying from NPC 2) dropping mobs/instances

the thing is u can only get the vision skills with stigmas u dropped yourself (or bought from ah, which is out of question here)

my question is, will we get the stigmas u need for vision skills or will we get the stigmas u can buy from an NPC and the vision skill required stigmas will be some event reward whatsoever?

We will be using the Stigma Stones you can buy from NPC as the Vision stigma skill is triggered by the server entirely and therefore we can activate the Vision stigma even when you buy Stigma Stones from NPC vendors.

By using these Stigma Stones, it is also directly impossible to enchant them (since NPC bought stones are unenchantable) and this meshes perfectly with our decision to not introduce Stigma enchanting as it adds nothing at all to the game. The gains are reduced cooldowns and mana costs which are marginal - the awkwardness of having to enchant stigmas versus the gains is therefore completely unwarranted.

I hope my answer was satisfactory :)

PvP Attack/Defense modifiers will not change.
Armor and Weapons have not been 100% discussed yet.. we might see new PvE sets but not sure if we'll add more variety of PvP ones as there is no new PvP gear coming with the 4.8 patch.. so if we did, it would be gear from previous [4.x] versions that we've not introduced on !Aion yet.

We've not looked into titles yet, if there are new good and reasonable titles, we might add them sometime after the launch.

No, there won't be an automatic map rotation. No, there will not be a 3rd Open World map, just 2 maps where you can encounter enemies or be at home and defend it. One meant as the Elysean home, the other as the Asmodian home. There will be ways to "invade" the enemy's lands, we've also mentioned that the maps will play a significant role! More about it will be spoiled within the coming days! ;) Make sure to check in everyday!

Thank you for your questions! :)
